St. Luke’s Centre in Manchester, UK participates in the mission and work of Saint Luke Institute. We participate in the healing ministry of Christ by promoting the health and well-being of Roman Catholic clergy, women and men religious, and candidates for ministry in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and other English-speaking countries.
We work closely with dioceses and religious congregations to provide:
- Personalized in-person or virtual mental and spiritual health assessment and evaluation
- Candidate assessments for priesthood, diaconate and religious life, both in-person and virtually
- Outpatient therapy and spiritual care
- Tailored education and wellness programmes
- Ongoing academic research in mental and spiritual health
We conduct our ministry in accordance with best clinical practice and in harmony with the teachings of the Gospel and the Roman Catholic Church. Our staff operates in compliance with national (UK) and international standards for specialized risk assessment and other psychological assessments.

St. Luke’s Centre is located in central Manchester, England. We offer full-board residential accommodation for 13 people and conference facilities for up to 30 people. Our address is Danesfield, Whalley Road, Manchester M16 8BT.
From the City Centre (Deansgate)
Head south on Deansgate (becomes Chester Road). Continue onto Chester Road roundabout and take the second exit sign posted B5218 Chorlton and Whalley Range, Chorlton Road. Continue straight across three junctions marked with traffic lights, Whalley Hotel on the right. Take first turning on the right, signposted Private Hospital, Whalley Road. St Luke’s is the second of two large grey buildings on the left hand side, the gate is just after you pass Sylvan Avenue and before you reach the Aspire hospital.
From the North (M62/M60)
From the M62/M60 sign posted Manchester, Eccles and Salford (becomes A57 dual carriageway). Continue on the A57 passing Sainsbury’s on the left. After the next set of traffic lights take the slip road to the left following signs for Chorlton. At the roundabout take the third exit, sign posted B5218 Chorlton and Whalley Range, Chorlton Road. From the South (M56)
From the M56 continue straight onto the A5103, Princess Parkway. Continue straight for 3 miles past Alexandra Park on the left. At traffic lights by the Royal Manchester Brewery, turn left onto Moss Lane. Continue along the B5218, Moss Lane to the second set of traffic lights. From the M60 (East and West)

Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria train stations are approximately 10 minutes in a taxi.
By Bus
46, 53 and 86 stop on Upper Chorlton Road, walk down Sylan Avenue and St. Luke’s is opposite the junction with Whalley Road.

The vision for our work is supporting the spiritual, psychological and physical needs of candidates, priests, and men and women religious serving the Church in the modern world. Our mission is to promote the health and holiness of men and women in ministry.
We exist as a resource to individuals, diocesan officials, bishops, vocation directors, seminary staff, religious congregations and leadership teams. In collaboration, we address the realistic challenges of ministry and personal development in a supportive professional manner.
St. Luke’s Centre is a resource for the Catholic Church in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and beyond.
We were formed in 2005 at the request of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales who were seeking a centre that would provide psychological and spiritual assessment and treatment for Catholic clergy and religious similar to that offered in the United States through Saint Luke Institute.
St. Luke’s Centre is a registered charity, with its own board of Trustees. We operate in compliance with national and international standards for specialized risk assessment and other psychological assessments.
