Listening to God & Fostering Community on the Spiritual Journey

Those who serve on the Saint Luke Institute team as spiritual integrators are also able to provide spiritual direction in-person or online, independent of clinical care, for a modest fee of $75/hour. (This fee can be reduced based on financial need. Please contact us for more details.)

Our mental health-informed spiritual direction services are available to lay people, clergy, religious women and men, and others. Our spiritual integrators are well acquainted with the Roman Catholic tradition, but can also speak to the spiritual needs of those coming from different Christian spiritual traditions or other faith communities.

What is spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is a conversational process which assists people in integrating psychological, personal and emotional growth into one’s own spiritual development. Especially in a group context, it can also foster a community of care and support for one another on the spiritual journey.

In each session, directees are encouraged to initiate conversation about their spiritual experiences, prayer, desires, and life concerns as these arise out of the very real context of their daily lives. The directee(s) and director then reflect on these together. Directees are also welcome to bring particular spiritual concerns such as:

  • prayer
  • need for discernment
  • responding to grief
  • and more

Our staff of well-trained and experienced spiritual directors are available to help directees explore:

  • how God is at work in their lives
  • listening for the voice of the Spirit
  • discerning life choices
  • and growing toward greater wholeness

Spiritual direction can be provided in-person at our Silver Spring, Maryland, or Manchester, United Kingdom offices, or in virtual sessions online.

Listen, Reflect & Discern

An Advent Group Spiritual Direction Experience for Women Religious

Saint Luke Institute is seeking four to six women religious who are interested in deepening their awareness of God’s presence in their lives for a prayerful Advent experience.

The group will meet monthly on Zoom for 90 minutes beginning November 30, 2026 and continuing through April 2027. The cost is $200 for six sessions.

With the guidance of trained spiritual director Linda Mastro, participants will prayerfully consider a situation, season of life, or question through a spiritual lens. Rather than offering advice or trying to solve problems, group members will practice prayerful listening, reflection, curiosity, and discernment.

No previous experience with spiritual direction is necessary—only a willingness to approach the experience with openness, curiosity, and a listening heart.
