Carrion

Board Member

I am honored to be on the board of Saint Luke Institute. Our paths have crossed in many ways throughout my journey as a priest for 43 years. My first encounter was when I was  the Associate Director / Director of the Division of Clergy Personnel in the Archdiocese of Baltimore at the turn of this century. I found it a privilege to minister to my own (the priests and deacons of the Archdiocese). There were numerous times that SLI provided emotional and spiritual care to our clergy. Having worn many hats in these four decades, I know no one is immune of the difficulties of life itself and the burdens that are imposed on clergy. I too sought the care of SLI during a time of a parish transition soon followed by the death of my brother Michael (also a priest of the Archdiocese).

For the last twelve years, as adjunct faculty at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltomire, I teach pastoral administration and leadership to seminarians in their final year of studies. I devote time in the course to care of oneself, especially as they prepare to face the complex needs and challenges of the priesthood. In serving on the Board, I am grateful to give something back to SLI as they have provided so much to me in my assignments and personally.
