A Life of Service
February 6, 2026
Dear Friends,
As we honor the life and legacy of Father Ambrose Kenneth (‘Ken’) Phillips, TOR, MS we are grateful for his devoted ministry to the Franciscan spirit of care for the poor, and compassionate pastoral care for those who serve the Church. His unwavering belief was simple yet profound: healing is a matter of justice, dignity, and hope, especially for clergy and religious who give so much and often have so little.
In memory of his life of dedicated service, Saint Luke Institute has established the Father Kenneth Phillips, TOR, MS Charitable Fund. This fund continues Father Ken’s Franciscan charism and the apostolic work of his ministry. It ensures that financial hardship never prevents priests, deacons, or women religious from receiving behavioral health and spiritual care. Across the Church, many dioceses and religious institutes, particularly in rural, mission, or aging communities cannot afford treatment. Without help, leaders may reduce treatment or waive services entirely.
Mental health care is not optional. It is vital for human and priestly formation, pastoral effectiveness, prevention, and vocational sustainability. Through this fund, we can provide timely access to clinically exceptional providers, spiritually integrated care, psychological and psychiatric services, addiction recovery, spiritual assessment, and continuing care.
Your generosity restores health and hope, strengthens leadership, and keeps Father Ken’s ministry alive. Every gift affirms our commitment to holistic care for those who serve and that the ongoing healing Father Ken championed continues for generations.
Please join us in this sacred work. Your support is a living tribute to Father Ken’s life and a powerful witness to compassion and faith in Father Ken’s memory.
With gratitude and prayers,
Father Patrick McDevitt, C.M., Ph.D.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap, for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

Other Ways to Contribute
Charitable Fund
This fund helps support clergy or religious in financial hardship so that they can receive the behavioral health support and spiritual care they need at Saint Luke Institute.
Planned Giving
Help strengthen our mission to serve the Church for future generations through estate bequests, revocable trusts or more.
Stocks & Bonds
Gifts of long-term, appreciated stocks and bonds can provide a double benefit: donors may be eligible for both a charitable tax deduction for the value of the securities on the day of transfer, and they may not be responsible for taxes on any gains from the time the stock was acquired.
Charitable IRA Transfers
Donors aged 70-and-one-half or older can transfer a contribution each year directly from a traditional IRA account. This may satisfy a portion or all of the annual required minimum distribution (RMD) and serve as a qualified charitable distribution for your IRA, which can decrease your tax burden even if you are no longer itemizing deductions.
