Saint Luke Institute Receives Re-accreditation from The Joint Commission

Posted on: April 7, 2025

Saint Luke Institute (SLI), an independent, international Catholic mental health treatment and education center for priests, deacons, and religious has once again been reaccredited by The Joint Commission for all services surveyed under its Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Behavioral Health Care and Human Services. With this re-accreditation, SLI has again received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, first awarded to the organization in 1985. The re-accreditation was awarded on January 28, 2025, and is granted for a three-year period.

The re-accreditation was granted to all three U.S. locations of SLI – Silver Spring, Maryland; Caritas Counseling Center in Greater Baltimore, Maryland; and Saint Luke Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The process for re-accreditation included a comprehensive multi-day on-site survey. According to The Joint Commission website, their representatives “evaluate organizational compliance to performance standards designed to improve quality and safety.” An independent, nonprofit organization, The Joint Commission works with over 24,000 health care organizations and programs throughout the world “to uphold standards that improve patient outcomes.” It is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

Receiving this re-accreditation was a team effort by all the staff of SLI, who are proud to be able to hold the Gold Seal of Approval set forth by The Joint Commission.
