New Outpatient Psychotherapy Group for Seminarians, Diocesan Priests and Men Religious
September 27, 2024 – Saint Luke Institute (SLI) is pleased to announce an offering for the fall of 2024: a new outpatient psychotherapy group. This new group will be open to seminarians, men religious, and diocesan priests, and will complement SLI’s existing mental health and spiritual integration services, including individual and group Outpatient Services, and a similar therapy group for women religious.
Those interested are invited to contact Stephanie Lerner, LCSW-C at stephaniel@sli.org for more information, and to schedule an orientation meeting.
The 8-session group will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4:20 p.m., beginning on October 16, 2024, and concluding on December 11, 2024. There will be no session on November 27 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. This in-person group will take place at the SLI office suite at 8380 Colesville Road, Suite 300, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
Emily Ray, Ph.D., SLI Director of Clinical Services, provided further background: “A psychotherapy group is a learning experience, a kind of laboratory, whose goal is to allow us to explore, and better understand, our ways of being with people. It is a safe, accepting, and supportive environment, within which we learn about our perceptions and assumptions about others and ourselves, as well as our personal styles of relating. As we learn and grow inside the group, we become better able to improve our relationships outside of the group, with family, friends, co-workers, and community members.”
