May 5, 2021 – SAINT LUKE INSTITUTE (SLI) is reimagining our hallmark mental health treatment program for clergy and men and women religious. We are shifting our residential treatment program to an intensive outpatient program (IOP), a model we have been offering successfully at our St. Louis, MO, location.
Our expert staff will continue to provide the highest quality clinical care, now at a lower cost to dioceses and religious institutes. The factors affecting the decision include changes in client care delivery models, insurance reimbursement concerns, and demographic shifts within clergy and religious life.
In summer 2021 phase one of the change will begin as SLI opens the new IOP at our facility in Silver Spring, Maryland. Services currently based at Saint Luke Consultation Center in St. Louis, Missouri, will be folded into the new IOP.
In fall 2021 we will move to a new office in Silver Spring, Maryland. At that time, we will consolidate Men’s Residential, Talitha Life, Flexible-Length, and the Halfway House programs into the IOP.
Although the residential treatment programs at Saint Luke Institute in Silver Spring are transitioning to an intensive outpatient program model, other existing SLI services will continue. These services include clinical evaluations, outpatient therapy, candidate assessment, consultation with bishops and superiors, five-year continuing care program, online and in-person education outreach, and spiritual direction.
Our unwavering commitment remains: to serve the Church through the full vocation life cycle and to foster the mental and spiritual health of clergy and men and women religious through excellence in prevention, intervention, and treatment.
